Caernarfon town Wi-Fi

In 2017 Telemat were approached to provide a feasibility study for the BID in Caernarfon Town to look at the potential benefits and likely scope of a town Wi-Fi scheme.

We provided a report that demonstrated the value of a scheme both as a value-added service for the town and the value of the footfall data that such a system would give. As people would need to sign up to gain access to the service, there is also a marketing opportunity with the scheme.

Following on from the feasibility study Telemat also won the tender to install and maintain the system which now covers a large percentage of Caernarfon town centre providing free Wi-Fi to hundreds of people every day.

The data the system provides has been pivotal in measuring the success of various events by measuring footfall on those particular days as well as the success of longer-term strategies by measuring return patterns of visitors to the town.

Local businesses have also been working with the BID to put together newsletters and other pieces of information to those Wi-Fi users who have opted in to receive marketing.
