What
is ECDL?

The
European Computer Driving Licence® (ECDL) is the internationally
recognised qualification which enables people to demonstrate
their competence in computer skills. The record breaking ECDL
is the fastest growing IT user qualification in over 125 countries.
ECDL is designed specifically
for those who wish to gain a benchmark qualification in computing
to enable them to develop their IT skills and enhance their
career prospects.
What do I want as an employer?
Key benefits for you as
an individual are that it:
|
Raises the level of competency
in IT & computer skills |
|
Improves productivity at home &
work |
|
Requires no prior knowledge of IT or
computer skills |
|
Provides an industry recognised qualification |
|
Reduce time wasted on solving computer
related tasks. |
|
Provides a tangible benchmark for computer
user competency |
Research has shown that ECDL qualified staff
can expect to save an average of 38 minutes per day (Manchester
NHS Health Authority and LearnECDL, 2002).
Be part of the experience
Already over three
quarters of a million people have completed or are doing ECDL
through any of the 2,500 Accredited Test Centres across the
UK. Internationally, there are over 3 million candidates in
over 14000 Accredited Test Centres in some 125 countries.
98% of people completing ECDL would recommend it to friends,
colleagues and family (BCS Benchmark Survey 2002).
The ECDL qualification
will result in a greater employee motivation, increased productivity
and a reduction in IT Support requirement. An extensive number
of companies in the UK have already set ECDL as the benchmark
for computer skills, including NHS, HSBC and Sainburys.
